Fics like Strange Trails

It's the summer of 1983 in San Francisco, only a couple months after Dave's exile from Metallica. He hasn't heard anything from his former bandmates since that day until he encounters James at a local bar. After a tense conversation that ends with him unwillingly meeting his replacement, Dave begins to discover new feelings for James. James on the other hand, finds himself at a crossroads with one foot in his past refusing to let go of old feelings, and the other one in a much brighter future.
