Fics like let our shadows fall away like dust

“What do you want to do, Alex?” “I don’t know,” he replies, staring down at the folder in his lap. The folder containing all the secrets of the past twenty-five years... and Alex isn’t sure he wants to know what he’s missed. “Ask yourself this,” Willie says. “Will you be able to rest in peace never knowing?” — Alex has never had any desire to find his family --- after all, before his death, they made it clear they wanted nothing to do with him. When Julie goes snooping, however, she uncovers information that turns Alex’s world upside down, and forces him to question all he thought he knew about the family he left behind.
