The neon sign for the bar was lit up. The Ruins called to her. Randvi had walked past the hole in the wall bar several times after work and through the smudged glass had caught a glimpse of a tall, blonde woman manning the bar. She’d even bumped into her once, as the woman had been hauling a crate of rattling wine bottles from a delivery truck into the bar. Randvi had nearly bowled her over in her rush to get to the subway and the woman had flashed a crooked smile. “Don’t worry about it,” she’d said and her voice was husky and low and Randvi had found it almost impossible to stop thinking about her after that.
