Fics like Demon with the Painted Face

Rangi never expected to receive a letter from Hei-Ran, especially as they hadn’t spoken for almost four years after a bitter disagreement. Its contents even more surprising as it called her to Yokoya, the small mining town in the middle of nowhere which her mother governs. Honour bound to answer it’s summons, she leaves her position as First Lieutenant in the Fire Nation in order to do so. What she finds is a place surrounded by trees and mountains, full of interesting characters. However she never expected to find herself entwined with the legend of an otherworldly forest and the guardian spirit that protects it. A guardian that the locals say is as tall as a mountain and wears a face of red and white!
