Buck has always known that family isn't necessarily about blood. He knows it because Christopher has been calling him family for years. He knows it because Theo somehow became his son long before Buck ever felt ready to call himself a father. And he knows it because Eddie Diaz has been standing beside him through almost every version of his life. What Buck doesn't know is when exactly Eddie stopped being his best friend and became something more. Maybe it happened somewhere between late-night conversations, shared dinners, school runs, bad days at the 118, and the quiet moments when the four of them started looking less like separate lives and more like one family. Falling in love should be the easy part. Learning how to build a life together with two kids, old grief, complicated feelings, and everything they've both been carrying for years isn't. A story about Buck and Eddie finding their way to each other, Christopher and Theo finding their way to each other, and four people slowly realizing that sometimes home isn't a place. Sometimes, it's the people who stay.
