Fics like Thrawn v. United Federation of Planets

Thrawn enters the throne room flanked by Red Guards, every aspect the opposite of the cringing, browbeaten Tarkin who entered after the Chester debacle. Thrawn is certainly much more useful to Palpatine than Tarkin ever was, though it still galls Palpatine that Eriadu is important enough that he is unable to vaporize that man for his failure. In his hands, the Chiss admiral has a number of dataslates. Efficient and presumptuous as always, Thrawn makes directly for Palpatine’s table and begins laying out what is surely evidence supporting his assessment. Palpatine gives him credit: he’s much more thorough than Tarkin ever was. Palpatine waits for Thrawn to get settled with well-practiced patience. Manners are as effective a tool as the electrode when used properly. “Well, Admiral? Your assessment?” Thrawn nods. “I have reviewed the information provided on the other galaxy. I also took the liberty of reviewing Tarkin’s discredited interrogation reports.” Thrawn looks Palpatine directly in the eyes. “It is my evaluation that this foreign galaxy would represent an existential threat to the Empire if provoked.” What?
