Fics like Beyond the Brink

Shortly after establishing his absolute rule over Latveria, Doctor Doom finds a four-year-old boy crying at the border, clinging to the lifeless body of his mother. The heartbreaking scene echoes the tyrant’s own past, reawakening the trauma of losing his mother when he was just a defenseless child. Moved by an unexpected flicker of empathy, Doom decides to take the boy under his protection and brings him to Castle Doom. As time passes, what began as an act of cold charity is completely transformed. Without realizing it, the implacable monarch begins to legitimately love the boy, who grows up viewing him not as a monster, but as a hero and a father. This emotional bond softens his ambitions, driving him to make an unthinkable decision: to renounce his plans for global conquest and reshape Latveria for the well-being of his new son. Destiny takes a dramatic turn, driven by a fatherly love so pure and fierce that it will force Doctor Doom to do the impossible to keep safe the only being who managed to heal his spiritual armor.
