Tommy was asleep. Määnin could tell, because he was snoring so loudly the neighbours must be able to hear it. Tommy would sometimes pretend to be asleep, probably to avoid awkward conversations about what all of this actually meant, but he always forgot to snore. Määnin also didn’t want to talk about what all of this actually meant, so he was happy to let Tommy pretend, but things were easier when he was asleep for real. Now, he was free to do whatever he wanted without fear of judgement.
