Optimus Prime cannot kill Megatron. Not because he lacks the strength, nor because he still believes the mech standing across the battlefield can be saved, but because somewhere beneath the armour, the hatred, and centuries of war, Optimus still remembers D-16. So he does the only thing he believes will finally set them both free. He erases him. Every laugh beneath Cybertron’s moons. Every stolen touch. Every promise made before either of them knew what they would become. Optimus keeps the war, the atrocities, and Megatron, but cuts D-16, and the love he bore him, cleanly from his mind. It works. The next time Optimus meets Megatron on the battlefield, he does not hesitate. But there is only one problem......his spark remembers.
