Fics like Everlasting Thirst

Scott swallowed hard. His heart was racing wildly, his entire body burning up as his mind internally short-circuited. He knew exactly what Martyn was asking him to admit, and perhaps that was why no answer came. “You keep telling me not to start, but you never tell me you don’t want me to,” Martyn pointed out before shifting closer, his body fully pressing against Scott’s from behind as an arm wrapped around his middle. Scott felt Martyn’s breath against his teal hair, and slowly, the tension began to leave his body as he relaxed in the arms of his best friend. At twenty-two, Scott and Martyn have long since abandoned their childhood dreams of leaving Elderwick, content instead with the quiet life they’ve built around each other. But when a mysterious illness begins spreading through the village, death is only the beginning of what starts creeping into their once-familiar home. As fear settles over Elderwick and death draws closer, the two are forced to confront just how much of their lives, and themselves, they’ve quietly entrusted to one another.
