Fics like But I look out at the wreckage of you
Ghosts had followed Yelena nearly all her life. Whispers of the past that would never again be, history etched into skin and memories that died with her that fateful day in Cuba. Yelena was familiar with ghosts, hell, she might have been part of some other people's unfortunate history, but that did not mean she enjoyed the reminders of moments long gone. They came and went as they pleased, mostly as nightmares, as flashbacks that left her shaking, sometimes they came from physical reminders. Her dad being one of her teammates, he carried his own, and they mingled with hers. But that was not the issue today, no the issue was that New Avengers were in Russia, approximately two hundred kilometres out of Saint Petersburg—a prime location for older ghosts to latch onto her. And more than that, they had no extraction plan. or The New Avengers end up stranded in Russia, they crash at Melina's and Yelena has feelings about it.
