Fics like (a mockery of) the scientific method

The looks they steal at each other—secretive, complex, guilty. The gold ring Fiddleford now keeps tucked away. The past Stan holds close to his chest, the one with a long line of failed relationships. The pieces slot together, just like that. And so, Ford promptly blurts out to his previously estranged twin brother: “Did you try to steal Fiddleford's wife?” Stan wordlessly reaches into his jacket and pulls out a cigarette. Ford lets him go through the motions, watching as he flicks the lighter and takes a long drag. “Sixer,” Stan says finally, “what the fuck.” Ford begins a scientific study on the relationship between his brother and his best friend. It goes as well as one would expect. (Originally written for the Fiddlestan zine!)
