Fics like The Past Is Catching Up To Me

When Ilya's father passes away and Shane decides to call it quits on their 'relationship', he takes this as an opportunity to leave hockey and the public eye once and for all. He decides to buy a property, Fitzgerald Cottage, live a secret life with his best friend Svetlana and pursue a dream he has secretly had since he was a child. Shane's childhood best friend Rose Landry thinks he is focussing on hockey too much and needs to relax, so encourages him to buy a cottage away from his busy life in Montreal. When extravagant and noisy parties seem to be held every weekend at the home across the bay from his, he can't help but be intrigued as to what is going on. Inspired by The Great Gatsby!
