Fics like Romantic Liaison

“I’m only here because of all this crazy shit I’ve survived. Getting Ashley out of here doesn’t even begin to make up for the amount of people I’ve stood aside and let die.” Luis doesn’t react with any shock, or much of anything at all like Leon expects. He simply takes the crown, heavy and rubied along the edges - and slides it gently onto Leon. He’s donned with cold, heavy necklaces and bangles, jewels with deep blues and purples. Luis pushes another gold ring onto Leon’s finger, elated at how well it fits. “What a difficult life. And you’ve lived to blame yourself after all the good you’ve done? Well, if you and I lived here, mi príncipe, this is how easy things would be for you.” It’s gorgeous, even against someone as battered and beaten as Leon. It’s sweet, it’s enticing: Leon has a beating, human heart, after all. Spain hasn’t seen the best of him, and what better morale boost than a cosmopolitan affair?
