Though the name wasn’t spread beyond certain very specific, elite circles outside of the city, the Roi de Pique was well known in Monaco for the infamous red drapes that covered its high walls, the atmosphere brought by live piano performances, and the dim lights casting warm shadows within its walls. The private lounge club had been the very same for decades, the preservation of its appearance and traditions being what the place owed most of its success to. An exclusive endroit, where those who knew of it could come in full discretion, given nothing that happened inside would ever come out. Or: George moved to Monaco young, full of dreams and ambitions. Though those have long faded, he’s managed to carve a life for himself in the city—within the space available for someone like him, at least.
