Fics like The Great Curiosity

Odd Squad But For Teens: 66 years ago, an asteroid hit a tiny farm in Crowheart, Wyoming. From this asteroid, came Oddness, a mysterious substance that can turn everyday objects, animals, and places into Oddities. This event was called The Great Curiosity. A team of adults was constructed to deal with The Oddities, in the hopes that they could contain the problem. However it soon became clear that prolonged exposure to Oddness could turn adults into Oddities. So, the United States military, and the militaries of the world turned to the next best thing, teenagers. A main headquarters was constructed at the crash site, and the group, which was now called Odd Squad, began to take in hires. Today, 12% of all teenagers of sound body and mind are drafted at age 13, into the Odd Squad. After a year of training, they are sent to precincts around the country. However, the real Prodigys are sent to the main headquarters, in Crowheart, Wyoming. The teenagers receive education, full high school degrees, full paid tuition should they choose to go to college, health insurance, and a yearly salary of $50,000. They are required to serve until they turn 18.
