Fics like StarTrek: The Moving Boundary

Vulcan told Humanity to slow down. Humanity listened. After First Contact, Earth accepts Vulcan caution about rushing into interstellar space—and turns inward instead. Reconstruction becomes automation. Automation becomes post-scarcity. Lunar industry reaches Mercury, a Dyson swarm begins to grow around Sol, and the civilisation rebuilding Earth starts questioning everything from money and hierarchy to ageing, scientific research and what exploration is actually for. By the time Humanity is ready to return to the stars, it is no longer the civilisation Vulcan thought it was mentoring. A canon-divergent Enterprise-era AU about technological acceleration, first contact, post-scarcity civilisation, politics, science, and the consequences of taking Vulcan advice literally.
