Fics like so yes (i guess) i'm asking you to back a horse that's good for glue

(and nothing else) “Right,” Jonathan says. “Good. Not a dream.” “You dream of me?” Ardeth smiles, too-short hair still glorious against Jonathan’s pillows. “I dream of a good breakfast, is what I dream of,” but the soft kiss he presses to Ardeth’s mouth belies his grumbling words. They pass the day mostly in talking. Jonathan draws for Ardeth a map (perfect, to scale, and Ardeth will someday stop finding it surprising, the things Jonathan can do) of the town, with marks for the grocer’s and bookshop, the pub and the butcher’s. Ardeth explains, finally, the smuggling situation, and promises that Jonathan would not have helped at all. “They had your face on a page pasted to the wall. It said ‘wanted’ above it, which I found humorous as I did in fact want you to be there. But I am glad you were not.”
