Fics like My Pocketful of Sunshine

Zuko stares down Sokka’s neck, caught on the quivering swell of his lover’s Adam’s apple. Unspoken words bounce against its walls, threatening escape. Sokka swallows hard. He lets Zuko drag a slow hand up his chest and towards his right shoulder. “It’s been… a while,” Zuko murmurs. “Put it more bluntly, why don’t you?” A command Zuko obliges, leaning down to nip at his neck. Sokka’s jaw drops for a sharp inhale. This isn’t what he meant–but by God, it’s everything he wanted–and if Zuko bites down any harder, a sacrilegious confession is set to come loose. Or: In a theocratic Fire Nation, Zuko awaits his anointment as Fire Lord… an ascendancy, of sorts, which will bring peace to the fervor of his state. A wonderful thing, all things considered: solar rays landing gentle against the foreign nations they collide with. But here and now, knowing Zuko’s touch–soft and warm–the night before the ceremony, Sokka is worried he’ll lose his sunshine.
