Fics like ladybug

“You should go back to class. I’m being a distraction, sorry.” “You’re not,” Megumi clips, a bit too fast, and he hopes it didn’t come out as desperate as he thinks it did. He tries to save it when Yuji’s eyes widen a little. “Class is almost over, anyway.” The air hangs in between them, swelling with something ambiguous. Megumi clutches his water bottle tight as if the cold ceramic in his hand can ground him. He really does need to get back to class, or else he’ll get lost in the specks of green around Yuji’s irises. He’ll never make it home. He isn’t even thinking of home for the first time all morning. “I’ll… see you later?” Megumi suggests. Yuji says, “Yeah, you will. I’ll find you at lunch.” (or: The one where it's Megumi's first year of high school, and he meets Yuji, a senior.)
