Fics like order carnivora

He didn't know what else to say, so he just sat there, looking at Rocky. He wanted to reach out, to touch him, but it felt like he had forgotten how to. He just wanted to eat. He'd known this would happen, when he turned Mary around to save Rocky: that going to Erid was all but another suicide mission. He didn't regret it, but now, animal that he was, some part of him did. He just wanted to eat. To go home, back to his old apartment, and eat a steak. Medium rare. Leaking pink onto a white plate. But home was here, now: home was a ship turning slowly into junk, and a five-legged alien who could dismember him if it wanted to, but watched him sleep instead. Watched him dream, watched him shake awake from nightmares that didn't even make him scream anymore; shook him awake from the ones that did.
