Fics like cabin fever

“My old line of work was…” he begins. “Dangerous. I tried to leave it behind, and for the most part I did, but apparently I still have some enemies out there.” He glances at Grace before putting his eyes firmly back on the road. He merges onto the highway and heads east, away from San Francisco. “I’m taking you to somewhere safe. You two will stay put while I deal with this guy, and once I’m sure he’s no longer a threat, we’ll go back to town. It shouldn’t take more than a day or two, hopefully.” --- When someone from Court's past threatens him and Grace while Grace's class is on a field trip, Court takes Grace and Claire to a safe house in the woods. --- EDIT as of 2026-09-12: I realized that the order of chapters 4 and 5 had been switched. This is now in the CORRECT order.
