Fics like the road less traveled

“I’m sure if you put ‘looking for a date to a red carpet premier in LA’ in your tinder bio, you’d have a dozen matches by the end of the day,” Colt prods. Jody rolls her eyes at him, and he gives her a wink. “You know for a fact I don’t do tinder,” Ryland says. “Not after that fiasco last summer, when you convinced me that it would be a good idea to suggest a tour of Alcatraz for a first date.” He’s starting to sound a little annoyed for real now, and Colt is a good brother, so he’s about to switch topics, ask about Ryland’s students, when he interrupts that train of thought. “But actually,” Ryland starts, sounding thoughtful. Colt can picture him pacing, or maybe sticking the end of his pen in his mouth as he thinks. “There is someone I could invite. I mean, we haven’t known each other all that long. It might be weird.” Set several months after cabin fever. Colt invites Ryland to Jody's red carpet premier for Metalstorm II, and Ryland invites his new friend Court as his plus one. Colt and Jody get the wrong idea about the nature of Ryland and Court's relationship.
