Set in a world where Voldemort never existed Hermione Granger is eleven years old when a witch in bottle-green robes sits down in her parents' front room and tells her magic is real. She is eleven when she walks through a brick wall and finds an entire world hidden behind a pub. And she is eleven when, on the very same afternoon, she meets two boys: one with impossible hair who laughs too loudly and treats her like they've been friends for years, and one with a lifted chin and grey eyes who explains the wizarding world to her with a patience neither of them can account for. A year later, her parents die. And when Professor McGonagall takes her to Gringotts to open a vault in her name, that's all, just a scholarship, just paperwork, the goblin draws a blade across her palm, the blood quill touches the parchment, and the name that appears above her own is not Granger. Sirius Black is thirty-two years old, with a house too big to live in, a name that weighs five hundred years, and absolutely no intention of growing up. He never knew he had a daughter. Now she's twelve, she's just buried her parents, and the Ministry would like to know what he intends to do about it.
