Fics like Finding Your Feet

At twenty-five, Haru has mastered the art of surviving. She works impossible hours as a hotel maid, and raises her seventeen-year-old sister, Mirabel, and three-year-old nephew, Machie, with a determination born long before she ever arrived in England. Home has never been a place. It's been a dream she continues to chase. Football is the one thing she keeps for herself. Every Tuesday, on a cracked concrete pitch she plays until the world goes quiet. That's where Roy Kent finds her. What begins as a challenging new opponent becomes an unexpected friendship, then something neither of them saw coming. As Roy slowly weaves himself into Haru's carefully guarded life, she finds herself drawn into AFC Richmond—a club full of people who have an irritating habit of showing up when she insists she doesn't need anyone. But survival has taught Haru one thing above all else: good things don't last. Or, maybe it's time for her to learn that finding your feet just means letting someone stand beside you.
