Fics like fault lines

"Jax?" Pomni asks, eyes wide in alarm. She sounds like someone would when talking to a cornered animal, and it doesn't make her feel any better about the situation. "I- I don't—" her voice crackles like static. One of her hands remain on the side of her face, and then she moves to cover her eyes, trembling. "I don't know what's- what's happening—" Pomni's quiet for a moment. "What do you remember?" "I don't know—" She cuts herself off with a disbelieving laugh. She doesn't know. It's all so overwhelming she can't piece it together. The name Pomni's using for her doesn't feel real, even though there's a part of her saying that it is. Nothing feels real. How did she end up here? What happened? What year is it? Wasn't she on the street? Didn't she come here because— "I don't know," she cries, louder. "I don't know who I am! I don't know!" (or: two months after her abstraction, jax reawakens, and she isn't the same.)
