On paper, his days sounded desperately dull: awaken, go to Castle Oblivion, keep an ear out for gossip, put down a yapping dog, visit Roxas, check in with Xion, puke, sleep. In practice, it was grand theater, a melodrama for the ages. Behold! By day, a wandering wraith: it passes from one room to another, concealing its incorporeal form by draping itself in robes and sweet falsehoods. But wait! By dusk, marvel as a wraith becomes man: spirit alchemized to flesh by the warmth of a sleeping blond's hand, the lullaby of a girl's soft giggle. For a moment, the wraith forgets that it is not human, that he is not a he at all but an it. Or: Written for AkuRoku Big Bang 2026. When Roxas falls into a coma, Axel is made to confront sentiments he would have been happier leaving in the dark. (He copes poorly.) Mind the tags — this fic is not focus on recovery.
