It had been manageable in the first half. Background noise. But England's number ten had spent 120-plus minutes pouring omega pheromones into the pitch like he was marking territory instead of playing football, and by the second half it wasn't background noise anymore. Extra time made it worse. Fatigue does something to scent control, strips away all the careful discipline these things are supposed to require, and Jude — brilliant, maddening Jude — was radiating pure omega distress-and-triumph in equal parts, like he couldn't decide whether he was winning or breaking Erling's heart. Maybe both.
