“Baby,” Aaron murmured, his voice slurring heavily, his eyelids drooping as the anesthesia began to drag him back under. A small, contented sigh escaped him, and he tilted his head toward Spencer, nuzzling into the hand he was holding. “Thought… thought they took you… too.” The silence that descended upon the room was absolute. The team stood frozen, their expressions a mixture of shock, confusion, and dawning realization. (...) Spencer didn’t move. He didn’t pull his hand away, nor did he offer any explanation. He simply leaned forward, his face pale and unreadable, and let his fingers interlace with Aaron’s. “I’m here,” Spencer said, his voice quiet but steady, cutting through the thick, suffocating silence of the room. “I’m not going anywhere. Go back to sleep, Aaron.” ----- Spencer and Aaron are in a secret relationship and plan to tell the team the good new of their engagement. But plans change when Aaron is stabbed on a case and outs the relationship while under the effects of pain medicine.
