Fics like A Dream of Warmth

When Hob Gadling hesitates to attend the birthday party of a mortal child who's family he has grown too fond of, Dream shows up on the porch with an unexpected perspective on the kindness of fond memories. Hob finds himself pulled back into the warmth of the living. What follows is an afternoon of sugar-fueled chaos, a crash course in the mechanics of "show-and-tell," and a powerful cosmic entity deeply confused by simple human kindness. Featuring an Endless who is surprisingly gentle with children, a birthday girl absolutely convinced her Uncle Robbie's new friend is a vampire, and a small, shivering dreamer who just wants a warm place to stay.
