Buck chooses to have a conversation with his parents when he's cleared from the hospital. He also chooses to have Bobby nearby as his chosen parental support. His parents somehow were let into the firehouse, there to have a conversation with him that he had purposely been avoiding while he worked through what had all happened, so if it was happening anyway, he was going to get what he could off his chest. Even if that meant telling them he was cutting them out of his sister's life for her. He couldn't actually do that, and Maddie would only laugh at him for saying as much, but they knew how protective Maddie was over him and would probably see it as a legitimate threat.
