Fics like living for the hope of it all

“That’s it, baby. Keep going.” All he needs is Mom’s encouragement to try again, and this time— well, after a few more times— his eyes are open. Everything around him is blurry, but it’s coming back. He finds Mom first. She’s right by the edge of the bed, still holding his hand as she smiles down at him. Tears are falling down her cheeks, but he guesses they’re at least happy ones now. There’s a man standing behind her with a hand over his mouth and the other supporting his elbow. His hair is a mess, and so are his eyes. He looks scared in a way Mom doesn’t. Brown hair, brown eyes, lots of uneven facial hair— he maps this image of Dad in his mind. This is Dad. There’s no doubt in his mind. Or; after a hard hit to the head, Peter wakes up almost a month later and can't remember a thing. He mistakenly confuses Tony and May for Mom and Dad.
