Fics like Eighteen and You Think You’re Grown

Everybody thinks the hard part is that May died. The hard part is what her past boyfriend taught Peter first, and what Tony does with a boy who will not believe love shouldn't come at a cost. Tony Stark takes in a grieving eighteen-year-old Peter who still lives with the ghost of May's abusive ex in the way he doesn’t eat and the way he apologizes for existing. Tony loves Peter and is terrified he will fail at being a dad, so instead he offers Peter independence, an apartment and a job instead of saying "stay". Peter hears "grow up" and "I don't want you as family" and wonders what the price of Tony's love is. -- Post-endgame where Tony survived the snap with just a bad arm, May died and Peter suffered past abuse (implied/referenced) by one of May's boyfriends. Morgan doesn't exist in this one, sorry! Lots of angst and Peter whump, eventual Irondad happy ending.
