Fics like this is the most fun i've ever had

The video loads up, and the quality is terrible. It’s in black and white for some reason, and it’s the grainiest video Ilya had seen since he last watched the home videos from his childhood. Even still, Ilya watches it like a man entranced. The man in the video looks about the same age as Ilya, with dark hair that falls over his forehead in a fringe that’s swept slightly to the side. He speaks slightly awkwardly, never making eye contact with the camera for more than a few seconds at a time. At one point in the video he holds a little toy up to the camera to show it off. Ilya realises that he hasn’t been paying attention to what's being said in the video and rewinds it to watch it from the beginning. He sees the man reach back after starting the recording, “Hi everyone, my name is Shane and welcome to my video blog.” Ilya's childhood friend, and the only thing that makes life in Russia worth living, is leaving him for Canada. If he wants to follow her he needs to work on his English, so she suggests he take to the internet for help, which leads him to a Youtube channel run by a Canadian boy with the prettiest freckles he's ever seen.
