Fics like (my) mutual needs

previously titled "do you tear yourself apart to entertain (like me)" Ilya always craved for validation. Impersonal, vain, lighthearted validation. So much so, it had him running away to Canada. The vastness and anonymity of the internet gave him just what he wanted – Tumblr, a place where being judged was almost unthinkable and getting compliments about his body without much commitment or effort was ridiculously easy. But as the bubble he had built for himself in a faraway land burst in the shape of a threat and he accidentally reveals things he'd rather keep hidden, a flash of empathy and freckles on a screen were maybe enough to keep him afloat. Or, Ilya accidentally posts a vent on his aesthetic Tumblr account, and gets an ask he didn't expect in return from a pretty college student with pretty freckles. He didn't expect it to bleed into his real life.
