Mel huffs in frustration. She can’t think of how to break him out of this spiral of self-loathing and catastrophizing. Doesn’t know what to say or do to end this cycle of misplaced blame. But, if there’s anything she’s learned in her time as Frank Langdon’s best friend, it’s that sometimes it’s best to just ask. So that’s what she does. “What can I do, hmm? How can I make this better for you,” she whispers desperately, letting out a gentle hum as she moves to stroke his hair once again. Frank lets out a sarcastic, wet chuckle, his face pressed against her shins.
