He’s still drunk—that much is clear when he smiles crookedly at Eddie, watching him from beneath his lashes. Eddie turns his face up from his phone and the neon lights paint his face in greens and blues, those dark eyes of his catching reflections in a way that makes them look almost ethereal. Buck wants to— he wants to— His fingers tense against the brick at his back. Oh, it doesn’t matter. None of it really matters, because Eddie smiles at him. It dimples his cheeks and turns his eyes into half-moons. Buck’s own mouth lifts in a helpless mirror of it, joy blooming in his chest. Eddie closes the distance between them in a few casual strides, one hand hooked in his pocket and the other holding his phone to track their Uber. He stops just short of Buck’s feet. It’s not close enough, but at least Buck can feel the heat of him now.
