Fics like The Taste of Old Cigarettes

Izzy Stradlin left Indiana with a guitar in one hand and the belief that Bill would eventually follow him to Los Angeles. He never did. Years pass anyway, and Izzy builds a life inside the chaos of the rock scene, cigarettes, alcohol, women, and the kind of fame that slowly eats people alive from the inside out. He tries to forget Bill through all of it. But without realizing it, Izzy keeps searching for him in other people, especially in red-haired women. Then Slash falls in love with someone. A red-haired singer with haunted eyes, a beautiful voice, and too much pain hidden beneath his skin. His name is Axl Rose. What Slash doesn’t know is that long before the name Axl Rose existed before Los Angeles, before the music, before the fame he was just Bill. The boy from Indiana Izzy once loved with everything he had. Now, after years spent trying to forget each other, they are forced back into each other’s lives surrounded by fame, jealousy, old wounds, and feelings neither of them ever truly survived. And the deeper Slash falls for Axl, the more Izzy realizes that some loves never really die.
