Fics like What Was He Made For

In an alternate universe where Beatrice never existed and Cordelia Holmes is driven to madness and institutionalized, Silas Holmes seizes control of the family fortune... and his sons’ futures. Mycroft is sent into government service to rise in power, while Sherlock is kept close at home under Silas’s watchful eye. Through letters and brief visits, Mycroft uncovers the truth: Silas is the mastermind of a vast criminal empire, and Sherlock is being molded into its successor. To save him, Mycroft abducts his younger brother and disappears, igniting a silent war with the most powerful criminal in the world—their father. Years later, on the run and living in secrecy with Mycroft, Sherlock grows into his brilliance, solving crimes anonymously and studying the empire he was meant to inherit. But when Sherlock befriends a boy named James Moriarty and uncovers a conspiracy tied to Silas, the brothers are forced to confront the legacy they tried to escape.
