Fics like salt in the wound

“I’m going to take a bath,” Knives announces to the listless human splayed out on the floor beneath him. He pokes his toes into Legato’s hip. “With salt.” Blue eyelashes twitch, though his eyes remain closed. Knives is exceedingly familiar with how pain etches itself into his favorite blade. It’s bad today. Legato hasn’t left their room once, and seems only to have moved as much as it took for him to slide off their bed. “I know you’re awake, Bluesummers.” Impatience blossoms with an abundance rivaled only by the prickling irritation of concern. His fingers warp and feather to form a small, curved knife. He crouches down to press the flat of it to Legato’s cheek. It’s slightly warmer than his body temperature and will offer no relief, but Knives’ intention is not to cool feverish skin. “Join me.”
