Fics like A Song Before the Shadow

Years after the events of the Battle of the Five Armies, Greenwood endures beneath a shadow that has not wholly faded. Spiders gather once more in the south. Orcs move with growing purpose along the forest’s edges. The peace that followed victory has begun to thin. Legolas walks the forest with a steadier heart, his duties shared with his husband, Elrohir. Their bond has endured distance, grief, and time, and has become the subject of songs far beyond their borders. But not all things left in the past remain there. When Aragorn, newly come into his name and lineage, crosses into Greenwood, old ties stir again, and with them, tensions long unspoken. As shadow gathers and loyalties are tested, the bond between Legolas and Elrohir begins to strain beneath the weight of what neither of them has yet faced.
