Fics like Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations

Jim Kirk was born female, and it took her the better part of three decades, living through two genocides, ten kids, joining Starfleet, becoming Captain of the Enterprise, and meeting time travellers from an alternative universe for her to figure out that maybe she was actually a He. This is a story about the complexities of gender, sex, sexuality, and trauma. About how the world around us and the people in our lives can shape the way we see ourselves even if deep down the core of us doesn't change. About how sometimes all we need is someone to show us the possibilities, in order to decide what we want to do. Who we want to be. Follow Jim through growing up in the wake of the Kelvin Disaster, the Tarsus Massacre, Starfleet Academy, the Destruction of Vulcan, and the aftermath of it all.
