Fics like this choice to make (the Sea's still calling)

“I’m going to have a child," an admission, voice dropped to a whisper, low enough that no one else could hear. "I think it's going to be a son, but Rouge is adamant it will be a daughter. A child the Marines will stop at nothing to kill if they learn exists. I was going to ask Garp to look after them.” “Garp?!” Dadan barked a harsh laugh. “Are you out of your fucking mind? Did the disease rot whatever sanity you had left? Is your brain going too?” Indebted to Garp or not, that man was not one who should be left to help raise a babe. “What’s wrong with Garp? He’s… a good man. Even if he works for the Marines. A man I came to know through the many battles we fought. A man I would have been proud to call nakama, if he’d ever wanted to join my crew.” “And he’s also a fucking idiot,” Dadan retorted unimpressed. Honestly, who steps out of Gods Valley still wanting to be a Marine? Seas knew Dragon hadn't. “You think that man can raise a child? He couldn’t even raise his own son.” “Well… perhaps,” Roger admitted hesitantly. “I didn’t know you were alive, but maybe…” Or, Roger makes a different choice when asking a friend to look after Ace. It changes everything.
