Fics like On the Precipice

Standing here now, months after taking down Tantiss and deciding to hang up their armor and weapons for good, Hunter was still struggling to assess whether his fear was justified. If what was meant to be harmless fun could somehow go wrong in the blink of an eye. But he wanted to be fearless again, even if all he felt was the opposite. He wanted the thrill. He wanted recklessness disguised as fun. He wanted to do something stupid, laugh about it, and somehow make himself the hero in the story. Hunter wanted to be free, the way he had once felt during the time of his life when he was furthest from it. When Omega convinces her family to go cliff jumping on Pabu, Hunter does his best to try having fun again, but there's more than fear that's been keeping him on the precipice.
