Fics like Into the Mists

“You are in a cursed land, lost in the Mists, my friends. A land plagued by darkness, death, and despair that preys upon its very people.” As she speaks, her gaze passes from Shadowheart, to Halsin, to Gale… “You clutch onto steel and faith, but you are far from the sight of your gods. You look to nature for guidance, but it is lifeless and brittle. You weave spells with your magic, but the Arcane in this land is tainted by hungry, evil powers.” Finally, her eyes lock onto your crimson gaze, pinning you in place. “Know this: You cannot make demands of the Devil, for he is the Ancient. He is the Land. And you?” Madam Eva sweeps the cards from the table in a single, fluid motion, vanishing them into a puff of violet smoke. “You… are trespassers.” A year after defeating the Netherbrain and freeing yourself from the Szarr family, a celebratory reunion with old companions is cut short. Swept up by the Mists of Ravenloft, you are whisked away to a land of undeath and ancient magic. Little did you know, the land of Barovia would echo the shadows of all your pasts… especially yours.
