Fics like Choosing Tomorrow

When Eleanor O’Malley walks out of a courthouse after facing the man who once nearly destroyed her life, she doesn’t expect the phone call that will shatter everything else. Her younger brother George has been hit by a bus. By the time she reaches Seattle, the decisions have already begun—and Eleanor is forced to confront grief, guilt, and a family she hasn’t seen in five years inside the hospital where George took his final breath. A surgical resident trained in New York, Eleanor stays in Seattle Grace longer than she planned, carrying the weight of her brother’s death, her own fractured past, and the quiet unraveling of sobriety she fought hard to earn. She finds unexpected connection, devastating loss, and a slow, complicated path back to herself—through love that feels safe, grief that refuses to be tidy, and a reckoning that proves the past never stays buried. This is a story about survival after trauma, love after loss, and the moments that split a life irrevocably into before and after.
