Fics like I need her like water.

"My Dearest Meredith, In another lifetime you'd have heard it from me years ago. You would know it was true with every beat of your heart. Every inch of your skin would know it. I’d have given you everything. In another lifetime repression and cowardice wouldn’t have run in my blood, and I’d have told the world from the beginning. About who I am, the way I love. About the way you made me feel. In another lifetime maybe, just maybe, it could have been us. But there isn't another lifetime. There is only this one. And every day I feel more and more that it was wasted on me." An unsent letter discovered after a suicide attempt reveals more than its writer was ever willing to admit out loud. The darkest moments of Addison Montgomery’s life become transformational, and the pain that once felt impossible to live with drives her home to herself, and to a love that lay dormant for years. Told through a collection of flashbacks that lead us towards an alternative to season four of private practice, I need her like water explores compulsive heterosexuality, grief, learning to love out loud, and the challenging parental relationships that can lead to a loss of identity.
