Fics like all mine

For a very, very small second, just before Rick is overtaken by his pure, undying terror, he feels something he has never felt before in his life. It’s a liquid sensation that surges up through his body as soon as he understands her face, and, while his mind is still lagging and trying to find if she’s real or only another vision, it envelops him entirely. It’s something from his bones and his insides: a recognition. Mine. In the back of his mind, he hears that word as it has been translated, out from the movement and magnetisation of all his cells toward hers. Mine, mine, mine. My wife. After these long, long years of being dead and defined by nothing, some missing piece of his heart has come back to him. When his consciousness finally jogs and catches up, Rick finds himself as scared by that urge as he is by the weight of what her being here actually means. or: returning to your wife is a very primal thing
