Fics like go without (til the need seeps in)

“I wouldn’t’ve… I don’t think I could’ve gotten through it without you.” He’s not sure if he’s talking about the walkers or Carl or Judith or himself or some helpless combination of all of it. She fixes him with a look that makes him falter. “You could,” she promises grimly. Rick clicks his tongue. “I don’t know, you’ve seen me lose my shit enough times by now,” he chuckles, a feeble sound that only serves to sober him. “I couldn’t have held it together without you- you know that.” She makes a small sound of disagreement but doesn’t say anything. Rick shifts closer, ducks his head to meet her eyes. “Michonne…” “I’m fine,” she insists shortly. “I didn’t mean to scare her before- I’m sorry-“ “No, c’mon- that’s not what this is,” he cuts her off softly with a shake of his head, leaning down to once again meet her eyes. “Tell me what’s going on.” ___ The events of 6x09 tear open old wounds for Michonne. Rick is there.
