Fics like Under The Light of Sol

In a wayward star system, far from its home in time and space, lies a pale blue dot. It's people lives with only the others on that world for company, loving and bickering and warring together, thinking they were alone in the dark. That would change one day, when a pirate JumpShip finds itself in Sol, and the people of Earth learn a single, horrible truth: They are not alone, and the void they once yearned to explore is filled with circling sharks. TLDR: Earth gets dropped in BattleTech in the year 2900. The people of Earth then get the "joy" of living in BattleTech, where a small nation still counts its population in the tens of billions and the normal response to someone being too annoying to conquer is "bring out the canned sunshine".
